Janina Rossiter illustrations
Welcome to my illustrations - I hope you enjoy exploring them. To understand my work a little better, here is the thinking behind it.
I believe art is one of the most powerful ways to communicate. It crosses languages, cultures, and generations, inviting people to pause, reflect, and perhaps see the world a little differently.
Not everyone feels comfortable standing on a stage or speaking in front of a crowd. We all have different talents, and for me, art is my voice. It opens conversations, breaks barriers, and reaches people in ways that facts and statistics alone often cannot. It creates space to process difficult subjects, connect with them emotionally, and, I hope, inspire positive change.
I believe art creates a visual language that goes beyond words. It allows complex or difficult subjects to be felt rather than explained. In my work, I often return to one central question: how do we get people to truly care? For me, artivism is part of the answer - combining image and emotion to create a deeper, more human connection to environmental issues, particularly the protection of our oceans and the life within them.
I feel incredibly grateful that my work has been exhibited internationally, including COP26 in Glasgow, ChangeNOW in the Grand Palais and the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris, POLITICO Sustainable Future Week in Brussels, IMPAC5 in Vancouver, and the UN Ocean Conference side events in Nice. Alongside my creative practice, I also visit schools, speak at events, and create children's books that make complex environmental topics accessible, hopeful, and engaging for young audiences.
My favourite collaborations are with people and organisations who believe that creativity can do more than communicate - it can inspire, educate, and help create meaningful change.
